Before Your Stay
What should I bring for my hospital stay?
- Insurance cards
- A list of all medications and dosages
- Important documents such as living will or power of attorney
- Wear comfortable clothing for physical therapy sessions
If you are going to stay overnight with us as an inpatient, you may want to bring your personal items such as, tooth brush, tooth paste, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, and a hair dryer; we do have these complimentary, however, you may like your own brands. We also recommend you bring a robe or pajamas for therapy sessions. Your laptop or a book can make for a good source of entertainment.
Should I eat or drink anything the morning of my procedure?
No. You are fasting before your procedure. Do not drink or eat anything after midnight the night before your procedure. It is important to follow your doctor’s orders. When in doubt, call your doctor.
During Your Stay
Where will I need to enter the hospital for an early morning procedure?
The front doors and front desk open at 8:00 AM; enter through the ER entrance and register at the ER window if your procedure is scheduled before 8:00 AM. After 8:00 AM, enter through the front entrance of the hospital and check in at the first desk.
What can I expect during my stay?
We want to make your experience as comfortable as possible for you and your family. Most patients will be asked to report to the hospital for an early morning procedure, so please follow your doctor’s instructions on report times. You will register on the main floor of the hospital. After you register, you will take the elevators to the 2nd floor and proceed through the waiting area. On your right, you will find a set of double doors with a small gray call box beside the doors; press the button and let the nurse’s station know you have arrived. Your nurse will take you to a private room, equipped with chairs, a bed, a television and a sink. Your nurse will prep you for your procedure there. Once you are prepped, your family members may wait in the room with you. You will be taken to the OR with your doctor and his team for your procedure.
After the OR procedure, you will go into recovery and you will have a nurse with you at all times. If you are having an outpatient procedure, you may see one of our physical therapists. You will be cleared to leave after therapy and discharge by your nurse. If you are having an inpatient procedure, you will go from recovery into your private room, located on the 3rd or 4th floor of the hospital.
If I am staying as an inpatient, what can I expect with my stay?
Every patient is different. You will be assigned a private room where one guest is welcome to stay the night with you. This is not a requirement; it is a choice between you and your guest. If you do choose to have a guest stay with you, we will provide your guest with a bed, linens, blankets and towels. You will receive breakfast, lunch and dinner trays during your stay. You will be able to select from a daily menu that will be aimed toward your diet plan. Your room will be equipped with a television, a private bathroom, a bedside table, two chairs and WiFi connection. Your room will also be equipped with a nurse call button; please do not be afraid to use it. Our staff works hard to please every patient. You will also find a concierge service available Monday-Friday. This service is for your convenience; please do not hesitate to use it. Your stay may involve some pain from time to time. We want to keep your stay positive and as comfortable as it can be after having your procedure.
After Your Stay
What about arrangements for after I leave the hospital?
We have several case managers in the hospital. They will visit your room during your stay. They will make all arrangements for your future rehabilitations.
