About Steven Barrington
Steven A. Barrington, MD, earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Air Force Academy graduating as with a Distinguished Graduate Award. He graduated medical school from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, TN, and completed his surgical internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine. After his military service, he completed a total joint fellowship at the Southern Joint Replacement Institute at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Before coming to Hughston Clinic, he was in private practice in Montgomery, AL.
Academically, Dr. Barrington has published numerous peer-reviewed scientific research articles, textbooks and chapters, and he presents his research at international meetings. He has won multiple awards for his research at the state, regional, and international levels, and was honored among his peers for research both in medical school and residency.
Dr. Barrington has special interests in biomechanics, hip preservation and arthroplasty, as well as developmental interests in surgical instrument, technique, and implant design. Dr. Barrington specializes in outpatient anterior hip replacement, and outpatient knee replacement, as well as arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee, cartilage restoration, limb realignment, orthopaedic trauma, and work-related injuries.
