About Edward Kissel
Edward U. Kissel, MD, graduated summa cum laude from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, VA. He earned his medical degree from University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine. Dr. Kissel went on to complete an internship in internal medicine and his residency in general surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine.
Dr. Kissel is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He holds memberships in many professional societies, including the American Orthopaedic Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, Alabama Medical Society, and the Jefferson County Medical Society.
Dr. Kissel specializes in general orthopaedics and joint replacement. Over the course of his career, he has performed over 8,000 hip and knee total joint replacements. In addition to joint replacement, Dr. Kissel also has specific interest in arthroscopic surgery using minimally invasive preservation techniques to help patients who experience joint pain and swelling from degenerative arthritis.
