About Hussein Turki
Hussein W. Turki, MD is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, GA, where he received both his undergraduate degree in Biology and his medical degree. His postgraduate training included an orthopaedic residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, TX. As a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Turki completed his fellowship in hand and upper extremity care at the University of Chicago. Dr. Turki has been in private practice in Montgomery as an orthopaedic surgeon since 2011.
Academically, Dr. Turki has contributed significantly to research of complex shoulder and upper extremity injuries as well as surgical fixation techniques. He has published numerous peer-reviewed scientific research articles, textbook and encyclopedia chapters, and international research presentations. He has won multiple awards for his research at the state, regional, and international levels, and was honored among his peers for research both in medical school and residency.
Dr. Turki serves as a preceptor for medical students at both Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Turki specializes in arthroscopic surgery of the upper extremity, cartilage restoration, limb realignment, as well as shoulder and elbow replacement. Dr. Turki has special interests in complex shoulder reconstruction, ligamentous injuries about the elbow, wrist, and hand as well as developmental interests in surgical instrument, technique, and implant design. Dr. Turki also serves as a shoulder consult for one of the leading national medical device and equipment sales companies. On his spare time, Dr. Turki enjoys spending time with family, hunting, fishing, and exploring the outdoors.
