About Dexter Walcott
Dexter Walcott, MD, graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics from the University of Mississippi and received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson, MS. He finished a general surgery internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. Dr. Walcott went on to complete an Arthroscopic Surgery and Sports Medicine Fellowship at Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Jackson, MS.
He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. During his training, Dr. Walcott presented papers on arthroscopic surgery at national orthopedic meetings and coauthored articles and chapters on arthroscopic surgery.
Dr. Walcott served as a team physician for local colleges including Alabama State University, Huntingdon College, and Faulkner University. He provided medical coverage for the Montgomery Biscuits inaugural season and has provided medical care and coverage for many local high schools over the last twenty two years. Dr. Walcott has been a member of the Jackson Hospital Sports Medicine program beginning in the year 2000.
Dr. Walcott has special interest in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee, and sports medicine. He most commonly performs arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, and instability repairs in the shoulder, as well as knee arthroscopy to treat meniscus and ligament injuries. In addition, he treats injuries and conditions of the elbow, wrist and ankle.
