Residency Program
The mission of the Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program is to educate and train orthopaedic residents so that each graduate will possess the professionalism, medical knowledge, and surgical skills to serve the public safely and ethically while providing the highest quality of musculoskeletal care as a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon. Rotations are arranged to provide a one-on-one experience between the resident and the attending, working side by side. Our residents leave the program ready to step into their careers and well prepared to meet the challenges they will face in their practices.
Our residency program was awarded accreditation by the ACGME in 2019. Previously, we were accredited by the AOA for five years. We currently have 15 residents. We participate in the National Residency Matich Program and accept 3 interns yearly. Our interviews are a two-day process with Friday night meet and greet with faculty and Saturday interview, tour of the different facilities, and a chance to talk with our current residents. Interview dates are set annually in January.
Residents spend majority of their time at Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital as well as the Hughston Clinic and Hughston Surgical Center. Other rotation sites include Piedmont Midtown, St. Francis Hospital, Emory University Hospital, and Children’s Hospital of Atlanta.
